I™™ve owned this mechanical window A/C for almost a year, and it works flawlessly. I added insulation around the unit to improve its efficiency and give the installation a cleaner appearance.
I hope GE continues offering mechanical-control window A/Cs and expands the lineup beyond 5,000 BTU. There are customers who still appreciate the simplicity, reliability, and ease of use of mechanical controls.

It works fine so far. Cools at levels. Expected smooth fan noise. Installing was was easy with two people. It seems efficient, changes with the controls. No vibration.

For what it is and what I paid for it I™™m happy with it. The room is cooling very well. I believe I got this for under $100 on a great sale and it was definitely worth it in this Texas heat. It gives our central AC a boost when the sun is hitting that side of the house each day. So far, I don™™t think there™™s any increase in the energy bill, which is a plus. It was super easy to install in the slide out panels worked beautifully. We really didn™™t even need the instruction manual, but we did double check it just to be sure we were doing it right. I™™d say the noise level is about the same as any unit around the same size. I find it calming to sleep with especially. I like the compact and nicer looking design and some have. The turn dials are easy to use whether it be low/high cool or low/high fan. Then you can choose how cold you want it. I believe it™™s a scale of one to 10. I can™™t complain!

It cools the room down nicely but the controls are not the best. But for the price I can't complain much. Though I will say that the installation was fairly easy. If you don't have it seated right it will rattle and make noise. I'm not sure on the electricity usage as my
utilities are part of my rent. So for the energy side of things I have no comment on the matter other than I think it's probably just like other AC units and a power hog.

Decent little unit. Just what I needed to supplement my heat pump that can't quite keep up when temp ounsihe is above 90°, or when the sun hits all my large windows in afternoon. A thermostat control would be handy rather than a random position knob. Installation was pretty easy. I liked the design of the bellows installation. Most units have it attatched to the frame where you have to fully stretch it out to attach it. Some brackets included were un-useable as they would not work. Vindov frame and side wings in the way. I solved the issue with parts left over from other units. Unit is nice and quiet.

Had this AC for about 23 days now and it™™s been solid. I got it for a 150 to 200 square foot Airbnb guest bedroom and it™™s been doing exactly what I needed. Guests keep saying how comfortable the room feels and a couple even mentioned they sleep better with the hum. It™™s not loud, just a low steady sound that kinda helps you relax.
It arrived right when the weather started getting hot, so it came in clutch. Set up was simple and it fit in the window just fine. Took maybe 20 to 30 minutes total. Once it™™s running, it cools the space down quick and keeps it steady without freezing the room out.
One of my favorite things is the analog controls. No digital buttons or fancy screens. Just old-school knobs that feel like they™™ll last longer. The touch panel stuff on other units always seems to glitch after a while. This one feels like it™™ll hold up.
Noise-wise, it™™s totally reasonable. Not too loud, not silent either. Just a nice background hum. Perfect for sleeping or just chilling in the room.
So far it™™s done the job really well and kept guests happy, which is what matters most to me. If anything changes I™™ll come back and update, but for now, I™™m happy with it.

It quite literally is just a glorified fan. Does not blow cold air at all, does just as much as a fan and my room is a college dorm so it™™s small. Don™™t waste your money just buy a fan for $10, does the same job. Not sure if mine is just defective or something, but it does not work at all and wasted almost $200 on this.

It is very cooling it was a lil difficult to install but that™™s only because I had a sliding window, but other than that it has a lot of energy and power and the controls are very easy to understand and the noise isn™™t even that loud I fell asleep no problem

Excellent small air conditioner. My office faces the afternoon sun and gets extremely hot, but I didn™™t want to crank up the AC just for this room as I spend most of my day in it. I'm over sixty & i installed my GE Room Air Conditioner all by myself, following the instructions given.
The room was cold after turning on & leaving it to run for less than a hour, it's simple & does work without too much noise , I love the controls .
We'll see how much energy this AC uses when I get my electric bill.

The a/c was easy to install, the cooling works very well and the unit is not noise free but ok. The only drawback, and it's a small one, is the at marking on the controls is a bit small.

We bought this for our son™™s room because the central air doesn™™t do a good job in his upstairs bedroom. He is freezing with it set on the low setting. Very impressive cooling and very quiet. Installation was a breeze and we had it installed and running in about 15 minutes.

Great price thru Amazon. Super easy installation and instructions. Only set it to level 5 on Low Cool and it cooled most of my 600sqft beach bungalow, while barely hearing any noise . Love my new 5000 btu window air conditioner. Its small and quiet. Super easy to install. The bonus is the analog controls - simple and basic. One dial for the temperature and on dial for the Hi/Lo, AC/Fan settings. If the power goes out the unit will come back on just where I set it. Sometimes electronic controls reset to "Off" with a power outage.

I have had two 5000 BTU air conditioners from a different brand that I had to replace this year. Chose GE because it™™s a good brand. I am sorry, but these things suck, you have to set them at six or seven, which is the max temperature for cooling to get any kind of actual air conditioned air to come out of the thing. If you set it to five or below, you™™re basically just using a giant fan. The other 5000 BTU that I had would cool down the entire room with it set at the mid-level. Unfortunately, I paid for these already so I™™m stuck with them for the season, but I am seriously thinking about replacing them already
