Keeps My House cool

I™€™ve generally had good luck with GE, and this window unit is no exception. I needed a larger unit than my old small one. It was a few BTU shy of this one in comparison. Installation required a lot, actually. I got a support arm to go under it to help stabilize it more. As far as the coolness level, it blows super cold air out. It has 4 settings Eco, Low, Med., and High. The temp only goes down to 62 on the settings, though. The adjustable arm on both vents limit how far they can go. It came with a remote, that™€™s a big plus there. This one is also WiFi capable and bluetooth enabled. I had to download the little purple Smart HQ app which allows me to change the settings from anywhere in the house whenever I want to. Actually, I manage my GE Profile within the app as well. The filter gives me a warning when it needs cleaning, and it™€™s easy. I just take it into the shower or outside and spray it off. Easy peasy. It keeps the main part of my home cool, and I™€™m grateful for it. The condensation it gives off I have to put a bucket under it to catch. It does have a considerable amount of noise, but I would expect that from any window A/C unit.

I purchased 3 of these units within the past few months. I have them in one of my rental properties. This will be my last GE purchase. My tenants dog chewed on the power cord. I immediately contacted GE to purchase for a replacement cord. Turns out, the cord was discontinued prior to my purchase. GE has no replacement part avaliable. I was offered a "Sorry, we can't help you". I would have remained a loyal GE customer, but I am so unsatisfied & upset ðŸ˜

Cold A/C But Quality Is Terrible

The Good: The air conditioner works great and keeps my office cold on 100°+ days. Installation was easy and similar to any other window unit I have owned, although it is heavier than most. The only noise it really just the fan. It does not have a loud compressor or anything like that. The Bad: After having this unit for 3 months, the remote control does not work anymore (not batteries) but at least the wi-fi controls still work, the temperature display now only shows the first digit and the unit has leaked water on occasion inside, which seems impossible because the back of the unit is tilted a little bit downward outside. The leak comes from near the spot where the electrical cord enters the unit, which is scary. I haven't seen any sparks and the unit has not quit working yet. Fingers crossed.

I installed this unit in a 1200 square. ft. insulated garage. If I turn it on at 7am it will bring the temperature down to 74* and keep it there for 5 hours while I work in the morning. It's an awesome unit.

Junk! Quit working 7 weeks after installing. Kept freezing up initially with setting on 72 degrees. Turned off let thaw three times and turned back on to 73 auto three times. last attempt it quit blowing cool area totally. Now facing the hassle of trying to contact GE about replacement!

I wasn™€™t going to leave a review but I keep getting reminded. So, here we go. The GE air conditioner is the absolute worst air conditioner I™€™ve ever had. I bought a 14k and a 12k. These garbage ac units will run it a while then the compressor will stop and warm stale smelling air fills the room and the temp in the room starts to slowly rise. The things are also extremely loud. Worst money I ever throw away.

Beware coil whine from the inverter

All inverter-based AC units make a coil whine / dog whistle noise at 13,500 hz (measured). Some people can hear it, some people can't--generally, the older you are, the less likely it is that you can. If you hear it, it will be a dealbreaker. Especially in silent mode, the coil whine is louder than the fan! I returned this, delivered 10 days ago to the GE warehouse, and still have yet to receive a refund. No response from a customer service inquiry sent yesterday.

Got the 14000 BTU to handle our first floor open living room, dining room and kitchen. Works well so far. Only used three days. It weighs much less than the 15k BTU unit it replaced. Made install easier. And it is not as noisy as some.

Cools great. Installation does not meet new standard aluminum double pane windows. Had to improvise for sealing. The extra sealing material was not good. The A/C to window mantle bracket was not tall enough based on the window bottom seal having a riser. Could not use. Had to use a wood prop outside due to this.

The cooling Schedule could be better like the Honeywell Total control 4 different time settings in a day where you can adjust the temperature 4 different times in a day X 7 days. The cooling offset could be adjustable from the 2 degrees to 1 degree or more if needed. Reason if you set it to 74 the smart app says room temp is 72 and shuts off when actual room temp is 76.
