Purchased this 36 inch under cabinet hood. Delivered and installed by Barlows. The minute they turned it on the unit was shaking and vibrating and making noise. Instead of taking it back I was instructed to call in a problem with it. 2 months later the motor was replaced. This should have been replaced. What kind of problems will I encounter in the future.

I am very disappointed in this range hood. It looks nice but functions poorly and makes a horrible noise. I expect the fan to be loud but not the motor! On low speed the motor is louder than the fan and makes a terrible whining, straining noise. On medium speed the fan is louder than the motor but you can still hear it. I placed a service call with GE and a tech came out and ordered a new motor . After the motor ( actually two motors and a capacitor was sent) arrived a second tech came out and said there was no need to install the parts because it would not help the sound. He told me all of these units sound like this and the best thing I could do is try to get a refund and upgrade to a better unit. I don't see why GE is even selling this Profile range hood !!!

Purchased this as part of a suite of GE appliances for a complete remodel ($5000 worth). Installation was fairly straightforward. First issue arose when air came out of the top front. Seems it comes pre-set for recirculation, though I would guess most people have their hood ducted to the outside. Installer didn™™t notice when installed. I put in the correct deflector. That™™s when I notice how poor the ducting is. Very flimsy and poor fitting. After a few uses I noticed only the left filter appeared to be drawing air. Put a paper towel on left side and strong draw. Right side: zero. Pulled down filters and it is apparent there is no way it will ever draw from the right. Called GE customer service. They were very helpful and arranged for a local repair person to come out. Said he had never seen anything like it but said they apparently designed it that way. Agreed poor design and poor quality. I contacted GE again to advise unacceptable. They sent another company out. Same results. Said he couldn™™t write it up as defective since it was working as designed; draw from left side only. Ridiculous. Long story short, GE won™™t do anything about it. I will continue to pursue through other means. It is deceptive to show as drawing from both sides. Why even put on the right filter? Why make a 36™ hood? Better, why not move the motor to the center like most so it will work as it should? Make it correct or don™™t make it. I will remove and purchase a real vent.

Nice product couple of things could be better. Having a back light on the controls would help. Having the charcoal filter holes align with the holes in the fan casing would also make for a more sealed fit. Only two screws align Also the ducting allows air to escape where the recirculating black plastic mates either the metal blowing air into the main body of the unit. Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback back. Not enough companies do that.

Since the beginning we have had a problem with the light not switching on/off via the touch screen button. Cleaning does not resolve it. Sometimes have to hit the breaker to get it off. Have tried different combinations of pressure/movement, but have not found a consistent way to get it to work. Fan controls work every time. I wish it had a plain old fashioned toggle. I would not recommend or buy another. I see plenty of other complaints about the same issue.

The airflow is terrible and only draws from the left side. This is the worst designed hood I've ever had. Also, the touch buttons response time is very slow and not sensitive. In order to get a decent amount of airflow, it needs to be on high, which is insanely loud. It looks pretty, though.

I do like my new range hood. The control, though on the front do not stand out, even though it is a touch panel, it is not bright.
The noise level on low is fine, it does get a little noisier on medium and high. It does the job though.
The lights are very bright, but can be dimmed.
Overall I am liking my range hood.

This hood range is a bad product for changing the light. Cannot turn the bulb to remove it from the inner outlet. Please advise of the bulb installed so the consumer does not have to contact a service repair shop to replace a bulb. Mr. Scotton

It is not as high as my prior range hood which is good because it opens up the cooking area but bad because the tile backspash does not reach it. Also, why does a range hood need to be smart? I just need it to light and blow. I wasn't able to find a range hood the same size as my old one so this one will do.

Works great for about a year. Then touch button board dies. I've had mine break twice. Outside warranty and it costs half the cost of a new unit to replace just the button board. Looking for an alternative that matches my other GE Profile products. Very frustrating.

The stovetop hood is attractive. It draws exhaust from the left side of the stovetop nicely but draws very little from the right side. I confirmed this by putting a small piece of paper towel next to the right grease filter and then under the left grease filter. I can NOT understand why GE would design, build and distribute a stovetop hood that does not exhaust evenly from both sides!!!

This vent hood looks very good. The performance is very lacking. First, there is a metal flap that opens and closes when the vent is turned on. This makes a very loud racket when flapping open and closed. Second, the vent motor is on the left side so that is where all the suction is. No suction at all for the right side. Third, the construction of parts around the motor is plastic for the housing and ducting. The ducting is only held on with a few screws. I had my vent hood to vent outside. There is a cover to be installed so air is directed outside instead of out the vents on top of the unit. The problem is that those plastic pieces are not very well fitting that air still get pushed out the top. Lastly, the most annoying point of all.... When cooking the grease is on the fan and the circular housing. The grease will drip back down onto the stove and whatever pot/food that you happen to have under the fan.

This is my third unit. The first two arrived damaged. Although this one is fine, I had to wait several weeks to get it. Likes: looks good and easy to install. Dislikes: Noisy, with venting to outside, it only pulls from one side so not that efficient and filter gets dirty quickly.

I'd give it a C grade. Looks OK. Front controls look kind of cheap, but OK. Moderate fan vibration at highest speed. Biggest problem was with the vent flapper with the usual top or back venting. It is normally in the closed position but then opens as the fan starts and the air is being blown up through vent. It looked cheap before I installed it. Then, after I installed it, it rattled badly at most fan speeds. We did NOT have this problem with our old GE range hood. So, I took the more substantial vent flapper off the old GE range hood, modified the mounting holes slightly to fit in the new range hood, and installed it. MUCH better!! So, to improve this fairly expensive product: (1) design a better vent flapper that won't rattle, (2) design and balance the fan a little better so that it doesn't vibrate at highest speed, and (3) make a better control display that doesn't look so cheap. I went with a GE Profile Range Hood because I purchased about $9,000 of all new GE Profile appliances ... Make it look the part!

Bought 1.5 years ago and out of wty. The motor started making noises, getting louder and sounded like my other fan that lasted 16 yrs when it failed. Checked the fan motor, is clean. Both filter screens are clean and cleaned often. This fan has always been very noisy. Now not sure if it was defective when installed or ?

Installed today so I can't say how well it functions, but it is operating like the salesperson showed me in the store. I didn't buy from one store because it was not hooked up. I tried another store and it was connected - thankfully. When I saw how it operated, my fears of a non rocker control and no regular light blub were alleviated - I purchased right then. The installers had to work extra, and creatively, because my hardwire cords were not long enough for the hood and there was difficulty in screwing tight to the upper cabinet - but they prevailed. That crew was great and to top it off, they cleaned up after themselves, were curtious, and polished the range hood. Leave me with no problems - my kind of people. Thank you.

I purchased this hood a few weeks ago since I was renovating my kitchen together with the GE cafà electric cooktop. I got the chef connect option just to be able to connect it to my cooktop but after installation, I noticed the chef connect does not pair with my cooktop, and it is extremely noisy, it just looks decent and the LED lighting is good but the sound in shift connect which doesn™™t work is extremely upsetting and disappointing
