Interior light out again

Interior light went out after 10 months. Its not just a bulb but an expensive circuit board and was replaced under warranty last May. Its out again after 5 months. LG wont replace it again because microwave is now out of warranty. Evidently this is common with this unit and LG needs to recall it. But since its not a safety issue this probably wont happen.

I purchased this in January 2022. soon after installation maybe a month or so the display started flaking out and never worked again for the next 3 + years. At less than 4 years after installation the microwave stopped heating. It still ran but no longer heated food. Im very disappointed in the performance and lack of enduring function. My previous over the range microwave lasted over 15 years.

I bought this microwave and it failed to heat food after 6 months of normal use 7 months from its manufacture date. I contacted LG Customer Service because it is covered under warranty. LG Customer Service has made made many promises to me and kept NONE OF THEM. I finally paid for it to be repaired myself for $300. LG has still not honored their warranty Even my repair guy told me that LG has terrible customer service and it is getting worse I will NEVER buy an LG appliance again and I tell everybody I can to stay away from LG

The interior light died after one year. Its not a lightbulb. Its an LED strip in order to get to it. Youll have to take it down. Remove the outside. Cover to change it. Who wants to do this every year? Not me After looking this up on the Internet I found out there are hundreds if not thousands of people with the same issue and LG is doing nothing about it.

Broke after 2 months

I was so excited to replace my over the range microwave with this brand new LG We came home and replaced it right away with our GE one. Two nights ago it started smelling like burnt plastic. I thought maybe we had spilled something to make it smell. Unfortunately after the cleaning the smell did not go away and it actually started smoking. So disappointed. Purchased at Lowes and they have a 3 day return policy. No more LGS.

Design flaw

Oven light stopped working after ~18months. It is not a bulb replacement as shown in the videos. The lights are LEDs on a circuit board which is only accessible by uninstalling the microwave and removing the microwave cover. This is not a homeowner replacement item.

I learned through an LG chat and video link that a technician would need to change the interior light bulb This is an under-cabinet microwave so the mounting screws arent easily accessible as needed to get to the interior light to change a bulb. LED interior light is a major failure.

Interior LED light has gone dim/off twice now. Im trying to contact LG to get the second LED board replaced before the 1 year warranty ends. Even with a service tech replacing the LED board having to do this is a major hassle. Right now when I call LGs number for service I get a message saying their phones arent working and to call back later. Otherwise the microwave is OK. The buttons on the control panel are impossible to see in low light. We had to put a dot of white fingernail polish next to the light switch so we can see it when the kitchen is illuminated by night lights. Lots of modes for cooking things. Mostly I use the time cook and power settings and do my own thing.

The reason low score. Why would LG make an appliance where you have to call a professional technician to change the led light. My led light 2ent out mine you Ive only had the microwave for 2 yes. I stayed up hours looking thru owners manual no mention of led light. Check youtube no help for my model. I chat with on line assistance to give me the same information. Next day I called customer service same thing back did provide me with the description of the led.. I decided to fo to Home Depot spoke with the person that sold me all my kitchen appliances. She was just as confused as I was. My microwave was on display she got a ladder and screw driver too the covering off and I explained to her my issue. She agreed with me not access to the inside led light. She suggested to call lg customer service and we were informed the I will have to get a professional to come out and change it. WHAT... and at my expense. Thiss a microwave why? That lady that was assisting me at Home Depot asked to speak to a supervisor lg says that they would call me within 24-48 hours. As to day I havent gotten a call. I gave them a week call lg again supervisors were in a meeting stayed on the phone for an half an hour waiting this person sent me the same information. I asked him to please have a supervisor call me. I still havent received a call. I purchased all new lg appliances.

Terrible Product and Even Worse Customer Service

I purchased an LG microwave at Lowes expecting quality but unfortunately I ended up with a defective product. After experiencing issues contacted Lowes and had a certified Lowes technician inspect it and they confirmed that the microwave was indeed defective. Despite this professional assessment LG outright dismissed my claim. To make matters worse the LG customer service agent I spoke with was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Instead of acknowledging the issue I was told that I would be charged just to have someone come out and look at the microwave even with clear proof that the problem existed from day one. Its unacceptable for a company of this size to ignore legitimate warranty claims and treat customers this way. LG clearly does not stand behind their products or care about customer satisfaction. I strongly advise others: do not waste your money on this particular LG appliance. If something goes wrong even when its not your fault LG will do nothing to make it right.

This microwave was manufactured in September of 2024 and within a single year the microwave no longer heats despite almost minimal use. The bogus mobile app and smart features that do nothing useful say that the microwaves diagnostics return clear despite it not actually heating anything. Customer service was beyond useless in attempting to solve this issue. Im convinced smart in tech is synonymous with incompetence. Had the microwave not come with our home I wouldnt have even considered getting a smart device and I would suggest you dont either. Standard capacity in the microwave on the outside construction seems fine and the controls would be fine as well were it not for the Smart features. I would give this 0 stars if I could

Great except for its sounds

Its well built cooks more or less as expected fan works properly. The light underneath could be a bit brighter thuogh Im guessing I could replace it with a brighter bulb. But the thing that really bugs me is the beep/tone. I had read that a user could turn the sound on and off via the mobile app... which is true as far as it goes. I guess I had imagined that as long as they were going that far that perhaps they would provide a full feature by allowing users to CHANGE the tone or set it to NOT REPEAT itself every 30 seconds on cook but to repeat for the timer. Those are the types of things they could have so easily done yet frustrate me almost every time I use the microwave.

LOUD EXHAUST FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME

We installed this microwave Feb 22 25 and immediately noticed the LOUD exhaust fan runs each and every time the microwave is used. I read the description and the manual and nowhere does it say this is normal. The manual says it will auto vent to prevent overheating if the range below is too hot. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I hop onto the LG LIVE CHAT to ask if this is normal. The response is NO and they set up a service call. The technician comes out and says Huh. thats not normal. and orders a new control panel. A week goes by and he returns to install it. Same issue. LOUD Fan runs all the time. He calls his boss. No idea. They call LG tech support. No ideas. He removes new part and leaves. The service company sent out calls me the next day and says they have no idea. I need to call LG myself to resolve this. I call LG. They say its not normal for the fan to run all the time. They refer back to the manual that references the autovent feature that turns on when the range below is too hot but again that is not our issue. They offer to send out a second repairman. NO thanks just call the first one who can tell you the fan runs all the time and he couldnt resolve the issue. They cant do that but they escalate it for refund or replacement and someone will call me back in 48 hours. NO call back. I call again retell the entire story again. I ask for a supervisor. Nathan contacts the engineering dept tech support and no resolution. He says hes escalating it someone will bein touch in 48 hours but again no call back no resolution. Rinse and repeat a few more times. Last supervisor says there is nothing they can do because the technician said the unit was in working order. WHAT?? He didnt resolve the problem. Call him. Ask him. This supervisor suggested I contact the store to have them reach out to LG for resolution. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. 1. I have used many many many microwaves I have never used one that ran a loud exhaust fan all the time. 2. If this is a standard operational feature it should be noted in both the descriptions and manual. 3. ALL LG employees should be aware that their microwaves NOW RUN THE LOUD EXHAUST FAN ALL THE TIME DURING OPERATION. I am beyond disgusted that scores of LG employees in customer service tech support and engineering can not answer the SIMPLE question of Does the loud exhaust fan run all the time?

Brought this product in Oct 172024 and broke 2/3/2025. Reported it to LG for repair considering it is still under warranty.Poor customer service and have been on the phone for hours attempting to resolve this.. I put in a repair request and it was sent to Virginia and I live in Maine. Customer service continues to provide no assistance and continue to report that I need to wait 3 to 5 business days for the locators to find a technician that can fix my microwave. The nearest technician is five hours away. It would be asinine to think that they would have someone drive a total of 10 hours to fix a microwave given the price. LG does not stand behind their products and they have very poor customer service. Even when they make a mistake they will not attempt to rectify the situation.

So Loud and overheats

Although advertised as quiet it is not the loud fan cannot be turned off even when warming something for 15 sec.--very loud. It overheats easy so if you plan on cooking something over 15 min. it will completely shut off and cool off for 20-25 min before coming back on just to repeat the shutting off when you resume cooking. You can only reheat or cook for short amount of time with this. Called LG and fan cant be turned off during cooking even for less than one min a beverage etc. When I called in they ask questions like is the door shut when you try to use it. This help needs to improve and I am going to replace this for one that will cook and is quiet: getting rid of after having it 2 months.

Per LGs guidelines Im not allowed to comment on customer service but just be aware the bottom of the microwave gets extremely hot over 200 degrees F when the light is used greater than 10 mins because LG decided to use a halogen bulb and they refuse to rectify the issue.

Overall good microwave purchased a couple of weeks ago. Only issue that we see is that the keypad is dark and not backlit which would be very helpful. Otherwise its great.

This is a great microwave for my son. He does not use it for much except for heating food. It was a little difficult to align the holes for anchoring it to the cabinet. But we did figure it out and all is good.

Poor Repair Service

I bought the over the range microwave the end of July. Unfortunately it stopped working at the end of October. Enjoyed the features until they stopped. Everything work except it would not heat food or liquids. Many calls for service finally resulted in repair in early December and eventual failure the day after repair. At this point after 2nd service call the unit is still not fixed. I am now waiting for parts. Needless to say I am not very happy with the unit or the LG repair services. I have called Customer service numerous times. Each time I was promised service and then repair appointment was canceled because the service was over booked in the day of the appointment. Each time I had cleared my schedule from 8 am until 5 pm for naught. This is unacceptable. I believe I deserve some kind of renumeration for my experience. $500 would be nice
